Who Does
ROP Select-a-Term Help
Introducing AG ROP Select-a-Term® life insurance from American General Life Insurance Company (American General Life) and The United States Life Insurance Company in The City of New York (United States Life). For the term you select – 15 years or any of 20 through 35 years – your policy will help protect your family, your home and your savings should anything happen to you. And if you survive and the policy remains in force to the end of the level premium period, you can get back the premiums you’ve paid.1
Advantages of AG ROP Select-a-Term: In addition to getting the premiums back if you outlive the policy term, you can borrow from the cash value accrued in your policy and still keep your coverage.2 Even if you surrender your policy after the fifth policy year, you can get some of your money back. Should you ever stop making premium payments, your policy could automatically convert to paid-up coverage with a reduced death benefit.3 Your agent can customize your quote showing projected policy values each year.
- You can choose from 17 term durations: 15 years and any of 20 through 35 years.
- Your affordable premiums are guaranteed to not increase during the level premium period.
- During the level premium period, you’ll have the option to convert your AG ROP Select-a-Term policy to a permanent life insurance policy.3
- Issue ages: 20 - 55
- Minimum death benefit: $100,000
- Accidental Death Benefit: Pays in case of death resulting from accidental injuries.
- Waiver of Premium: Protects your policy by waiving premiums on the base policy upon total disability of the insured after a six-month waiting period for American General Life and a four-month waiting period for the United States Life.
- Child Rider: Extends coverage to all of your eligible children.
- Disability Income Rider*: Pays a monthly benefit up to two years if you are unable to work because of an illness or injury.
- Terminal Illness Rider*: If you are diagnosed with a terminal illness, you’ll have the option of drawing part of your policy benefit to help cover expenses.4
* Not available on the United States Life policy.
1 AG ROP Select-a-Term accumulates a cash value that starts no later than the fifth policy year. At the end of the level premium period, the cash value of the in-force policy equals the total of cumulative premiums paid, less any charges for substandard ratings and riders. If the client surrenders the policy, this amount is paid out, minus any outstanding loan balance. The cash surrender value payment does not take into account the time value of money. Alternatively, the same amount may be rolled into a permanent plan of insurance should the insured be eligible for and choose to exercise the conversion option. Coverage may also be continued beyond the level premium period by payment of increasing annual premiums, and the policy will continue to build cash value until the policy anniversary nearest the insured's 95th birthday when the cash value will equal the face amount of the policy. The cash value, minus any outstanding loan balance, will then be distributed as the endowment benefit if the policy is inforce and the insured is then living. The cash value and endowment benefit are subject to all terms and conditions detailed in the policy.
2 The loan interest rate is 8.00% per year, payable in arrears. Consult with your tax professional to determine if transaction is a taxable event.
3 Convertibility feature extends to the earlier of the end of the level premium period or the insured’s attainment of age 70.
4 Available if the insured is diagnosed by a qualified physician as having 12 months or fewer to live; benefit maximum is the lesser of $250,000 or 50 percent of the policy benefit.
